Originally from Chicago, Illinois, DeShawn Bullard is one of the Beauty Industry’s top leaders and entrepreneurs. This diversified young lady has a bachelor's degree in computer science from Tuskegee University. After obtaining her degree, she worked as a computer programmer for seven years. While working as a computer programmer, she received her training in cosmetology. Her love for cosmetology and desire for entrepreneurship pushed her to leave her job as a computer programmer and pursue a dream.
Today, CEO DeShawn Bullard, also known as the Hair Coach®, provides recession-proof products and services to women and men nationally and internationally. The Atlanta entrepreneur continues to broaden the distribution of NouriTress Perfect Hair Products, the company she founded in 1998. In 2007 she teamed up with Grammy Award winning songstress Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins of the group ‘TLC’ who had become the new NouriTress Perfect Hair Products national spokesperson. Her latest success started in January 2010 when she landed a distribution deal of her products, NouriTress Hair Products with one of the largest salon chains in the country, J.C.Penney.
She's owner of the NouriTress Hair Clinic located in Fayetteville, GA and Co-Owner & Founder of Salon Industry Solutions, Inc. a company dedicated to educating and empowering professionals in the beauty and wellness industry; Co-Owner of and Salon Industry Suites a Salon Suites Complex Concept located in Atlanta, GA.
DeShawn had become known and recognized for her creative styling techniques but is now known as one who educates, motivates, encourages and empower industry professionals on how to take their business to the next level. Along with being a product manufacturer, she is an experienced Platform Artist who has conducted numerous workshops and seminars for such shows as the Bronner Brothers Trade Shows, International Hair Shows, Premier Shows, Chicago Midwest Beauty Show (in which she was selected as keynote speaker) and many other Trade Shows throughout the world. She has also excelled in the competition arena. Some of her accomplishments in her seventeen year career include winning such competitions as the Bronner Brothers Day by Night Competition & Mr. Raw male texturizing category.
Her dynamic style of teaching afforded her a position as Educational Director for “Professional Products, Inc.”. As Educational Director, she received international exposure as an educator to such places as Canada, Brazil, Bahamas and the Virgin Islands. In her classes, she educates stylists about the latest in hair care, business and the use of technology for the salon industry.
DeShawn has made several appearances as a guest hair stylist on the TBS nationally syndicated TV Show "Movie and A Makeover" and her work has graced the pages of many of the top industry magazines such as; Sophisticates Hair, Passion, American Salon and Hype Hair magazines. In 2004, she was selected as the stylist to create the looks for Sally Beauty Supply’s new product line “Silk Elements”. This celebrity hair stylist who has worked on such celebrities as T-Boz of TLC (a member of the #1 Contemporary R&B Girl Group), actress Lynn Whitfiled, singers Betty Wright, Dottie Peoples, LaShun Pace and Dorothy Norwood is the creator of a very popular Atlanta website for beauty (atlantasalons.com which was featured in Essence Magazine July 2000). DeShawn has implemented her very own product line NouriTress Perfect Hair Products for women experiencing hair thinning and hair loss which is distributed nationally and internationally to such places as the UK, Canada and Nigeria. She is an author of two self published books called "Are you Running a Business OR Just Doin' Hair" and Independence Day which has received rave reviews from the Beauty Industry.
Salon Sense Magazine selected her year after year as one of the 50 most influential women and power brokers in the beauty industry (March 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 & 2007). Loreal/Mizani called on her to be the feature educator for the Loreal/Mizani Academy on Tour 2004, a tour that traveled to 12 states educating stylists about the latest in hair care and salon business strategies. She is also the producer of a four volume Creative Styling Techniques Video Series.
To add to her list of achievements, DeShawn provides weekly hair advice on the Morgan Dukes, First Lady of Gospel Radio Show which is heard by millions of listeners on SGN the Light radio and aired in approximately 50 cities.
