  • Are You Running A Business OR Just Doin’ Hair - This power packed seminar will help salon owners and independent contractors run their businesses more effectively. In order for a stylist to make a $1000 in 3 days, a stylist must be running a business and not just doing hair. If you are a salon owner and want to take your business to the next level by turning a greater profit for your salon, bringing more clientele into your salon by developing a marketing plan and attracting new stylists, this class will take you through the process of elevation. This seminar will take students into the world of salon ownership. Many stylists desire to own their own salon but there has been no road map to take them from hair stylist to salon ownership. This road map into salon ownership will first ask stylists the question “Are you Running A Business OR Just Doin’ Hair.  The answer to this question will let students know if they are ready for salon ownership. This seminar will cover the following topics:
    • How to get my business started – what licenses and credentials do I need as a booth renter/Independent Operator or salon owner to make sure my business is setup properly

  • Minding Your Business: Small businesses are often started by skilled workers or “technicians” who are great at what they do. Beauty and Barber professionals are no exception.  Most salon owners, booth renters, and independent contractors are technicians who became self-taught owners.  When serious challenges arise in running these operations, the owners soon realize that being a great stylist or barber doesn’t automatically produce a successful business. Before a barber, stylist, nail tech, or esthetician decides to go into business for him or herself, there are some business basics that need to be learned.  Even if the basics weren’t learned or followed at the beginning of the project, it’s never too late to go back and learn what may have been missed or misapplied. Whether you’re starting a new company or restructuring an existing one, this seminar of intensive business training is for you! Attendees will explore:
    • Your personal purpose and goals for wanting and starting a business
    • How to develop your company to finance and support your personal goals
    • The various types of salon and contracting businesses
    • How to find and properly classify workers for each business type
    • What should be included in work agreements and booth rental leases
    • Presenting a polished, professional image
    • How to charge what their services are worth
    • The rights and responsibilities of self-employed workers
    • Selecting the best ownership structure for your company (C-Corporation, S-Corporation, LLC, General Partnership, etc.)
    • When and how to secure all of the licenses, registrations, documents, insurance’s, etc. for startup operations
    • All of the different business and personal taxes that you will be responsible for, as well as when and how to file your returns
    • How to strengthen your systems for management, marketing, finances and daily operations
    • Developing an investment/ financial plan for startup and operating costs
    • Planning your company’s future and your exit strategy/ retirement
    • This seminar is broken up into the following topics: Finding Your Niche & Setting Up Your Business Accordingly, How to Finance Your Dream, Help! I Chained Myself to the Chair and Life Beyond the Chair.

  • Business Boot Camp - This 2 part seminar explores the following topics:
    • BUSINESS BEYOND THE CHAIR - You’ve mastered the art of hair styling; now learn the business. When you choose to become and independent operator or sign on for salon ownership, you make the decision to wear many hats.  Accountant, Attorney, Marketing Rep, Housekeeper, Coach, and Parent are just a few of your added job descriptions and responsibilities. With so many tasks, you need to operate the business structure that’s right for you. Salon ownership, booth renting and independent contracting (freelancing) are all business types that function in very different ways. They’re not the same and you need to know the difference before you sign up for more than you can handle. You will learn:
      • How to get paid whether you’re behind the chair or not
      • How to be a $100,000 stylist
      • How to charge what you are worth and give yourself an annual raise
      • How to market your business to increase your profits
      • How to provide “value added” services to set yourself apart from the competition
      • Why we don’t need another salon with chairs for rent
      • How to determine what type of salon or business works best for your personality
      • How to distinguish between employees, contractors and booth renters
      • Why more ethnic salon owners need to hire W-2 employees
      • How to setup an employee-based salon
      • How to set up and run “new millennium booth rental operations”
      • When and how to hire independent contractors
      • How to be a legitimate independent contractor (freelancer)
      • How to draft airtight leases and work agreements
      • How to manage you business (time management, scheduling appointments, money management, manage the flow of your clients and plan for retirement)
    • TAKING BOOTH RENTAL TO THE NEXT LEVEL We’re not talking your average chair for rent. The new face of booth renting reflects a miniature salon operation with savvy business owners who have their credentials in place, a booming client base, and systems for management, marketing, finances, & daily operations. Seminar will cover:
      • Find out who should rent, who should not, and why this new form of booth renting is here to stay.
      • Explore booth rentals or “mini-salons” from both the salon owner and booth renter points of view.
      • Learn how a successful mini-salon owner should set up business
      • Learn how to own and manage a profitable facility for booth renting that complies with federal and state guidelines.

  • Building Your Business Credit Seminar - One of the great benefits of starting a business is that it is possible to establish a new and separate credit profile that is distinct from your personal credit profile.  This means that although you may have poor personal credit, you can structure your new business in a manner that allows you to build a pristine credit profile for your company, allowing you to receive loans, credit cards, lines of credit, etc. that you would not be able to obtain as an individual (and often at better interest rates).
  • When you build credit for your business, you don’t have to use your personal credit as a guarantee to obtain money for your business. You can build business credit for your business regardless of your personal credit history.  Having business credit will allow you to have capital for your business, protect and separate your personal assets from your business, allow you to purchase salon equipment, computers and vehicle without checking your personal credit.

In this seminar business owners will learn:

  • Learn the 8 basic steps required to build their business credit
  • The advantages of building a Business Credit Profile
  • How to start building business credit for their business
